The Edgar Allan Poe Museum in Richmond offers a fully interactive experience for teachers and students by bringing Poe into the modern day through his poetry and literary works.  All of our programs are specifically designed to meet Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOLS) for English and history.  The Poe Museum offers readings of Poe’s work, a scavenger hunt through the museum, and several additional programs help bring his most famous literary pieces to life while debunking the most common myths associated with Poe. By partnering with Saint John’s Church or the Library of Virginia, we can offer you and your students a full day of activity or can rotate students between two or three sites to make the tour sizes smaller and more manageable.  Both Saint John’s Church and the Library of Virginia offer exhibits, tours and programming to complement the educational experience at the Poe Museum and to support the SOLs for history and civics for Virginia students. Educators Packet

The website also offers a complete Educators Packet, which includes a biographical timeline of Poe’s life and several fun and informative lessons plans for the classroom.
